The Lycée Français International Théodore Monod (LFITM) is a prestigious school located in Abu Dhabi, currently welcoming 1,650 students from preschool to senior year on its Saadiyat campus, equipped with outstanding facilities. For the upcoming school year, the Bateen campus will reopen after a complete renovation, allowing LFITM to host its students across two sites: the Bateen site, dedicated exclusively to primary students, and the Saadiyat site, which will continue to serve both primary and secondary students.

LFITM is a place of cultural and academic enrichment, with students representing over 50 nationalities. Main Mission

The Arabic as a Foreign Language Teacher will be responsible for teaching Arabic to non-native Arabic-speaking students in secondary grades (6ème to Terminale / Grades 6 to 12). The teacher will provide instruction that fosters language acquisition and fluency, designed to engage older students in developing foundational to intermediate proficiency in Arabic.

Responsibilities and Activities

Teaching Arabic Language Curriculum

Develop and deliver Arabic language lessons tailored to non-native speakers in secondary school, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to cater to a range of proficiency levels, supporting student engagement and language development.

Cultural and Language Enrichment

Foster an immersive and positive learning environment that encourages students to explore Arabic language and culture.
Incorporate cultural elements into lessons to enhance students’ understanding and appreciation of Arabic-speaking communities.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

Assess and monitor students’ progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding students’ progress and areas for improvement.

Participation in School Projects and Events

Engage in LFITM community activities that promote bilingualism and cultural awareness.
Collaborate with colleagues to support events, projects, and initiatives that align with the school’s commitment to a multicultural and bilingual learning environment.

Desired Profile

Priority will be given to candidates holding a residency visa in the United Arab Emirates

Degree

Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language Education or a related field (minimum qualification required for ADEK’s teaching agreement).

Experience

At least two years of relevant teaching experience in Arabic as a Foreign Language, especially with secondary students. Candidates who already possess an ADEK teaching agreement are preferred.

Skills

Native-level proficiency in Arabic with a solid understanding of teaching strategies for non-native learners.
Ability to create dynamic, engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of secondary-level students.
Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
Proficiency in English or French is an asset for communication within the LFITM community.
