School Background:
The Lycée Français International Théodore Monod (LFITM) is a prestigious school located in Abu Dhabi, currently welcoming 1,650 students from preschool to senior year on its Saadiyat campus, equipped with outstanding facilities. For the upcoming school year, the Bateen campus will reopen after a complete renovation, allowing LFITM to host its students across two sites: the Bateen site, dedicated exclusively to primary students, and the Saadiyat site, which will continue to serve both primary and secondary students.
LFITM is a place of cultural and academic enrichment, with students representing over 50 nationalities. At the heart of this diversity, the school promotes a bilingual and multicultural environment, providing students with a rigorous and globally-oriented education. LFITM is a French school accredited by the French Ministry of Education, a member of the AEFE network (Agency for French Education Abroad), and is supervised by ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge).

Main Mission
The English teacher will be responsible for teaching English Literature to secondary students enrolled in the bilingual track and those preparing for the French International Baccalaureate (BFI) – American section. The candidate should be a native English speaker or have equivalent proficiency and be capable of imparting the literary and cultural skills required by the BFI curriculum.

Responsibilities and Activities
Teaching English Literature
Deliver English literature classes to students in the bilingual and BFI tracks, fostering critical analysis and appreciation of literary works.
Develop lesson plans aligned with BFI program expectations and the bilingual curriculum, incorporating an American cultural perspective.

Preparation for the French International Baccalaureate
Prepare BFI students for exams by implementing teaching methods tailored to their academic needs.
Design and assess exercises, essays, and text analyses to strengthen students’ skills in literary comprehension and interpretation.

Development of Linguistic and Cultural Competencies
Enhance students’ understanding of American culture through a variety of activities and resources (readings, discussions, group work).
Encourage oral and written expression in English, while building students’ confidence and communication skills.

Individualized Support and Follow-Up
Provide personalized support to help students achieve their academic goals and develop autonomy.
Collaborate with the teaching team to identify students’ specific needs and adapt teaching practices accordingly.

Contribution to the School Project
Participate in LFITM initiatives and projects related to American literature and culture.
Assist in organizing literary and cultural events in collaboration with other teachers and cultural partners of the institution.

Desired Profile

Degree: Teaching certification (CAPES, PGCE…) and/or Master’s degree in English Literature, English Teaching, or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience, 2 year minium, teaching English literature at the secondary level, ideally in an international or bilingual setting.

Skills
Native or equivalent level in English, essential for quality teaching.
Strong knowledge of pedagogical methods for teaching English literature, especially for BFI preparation.
Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and initiative.
Proficiency in French is an asset in a bilingual setting.
